The most difficult and most wonderful thing we can do is live in the present. In tough times life can feel so awful, but in good times, you can just soak in it. No matter what, life never stops. Happiness will never be a constant in anyone’s life. No matter how good of a person we are or how many good things we do for people, life is just going to get you sometimes.
If we don’t live in the present, we never learn. I had a terrible thing happen to me when I was 18. Right before I left for college, and I pretended like everything was OK, and got to college and had no friends, no fun and lost a ton of weight. I missed the first two months of college because I was afraid of being sad and telling people why I was sad. I wanted everyone to think I was just strong but that secret inside me broke me down and made miss out on a really important time in my life. Even now when I tell that story, people are horrified by it, but it’s OK, it all worked out. I take care of the problem, and I live everyday remembering that time in my life as when I started to learn what was actually important. The actual story doesn’t matter, but the lesson does.
Life is a story that writes itself, if you try to write it, you will miss it. Live in the present and love it for what it is, good or bad.
Age doesn’t matter but this happens to all of us and it’s so beautifully articulated in this article.
